We have become accustomed to sitting at home and passively watching a program on television. But Silver Showcase films were intended to be seen as a group experience in a dark room. There is something communal in that projector’s light flickering at twenty-four frames per second. Many films, particularly comedies, come alive with an audience.
Silver Showcase is dedicated to providing the complete cinematic experience through the magic of projected film. We come ready to transform your gathering space into a theater, and even provide printed programs for your audience as well as the 16mm projectors.
Silver Showcase film presentations are more than just a movie. Our film programs are as much about the history behind the films and the era in which they were made as they are about the films themselves. Before each film I present a live introduction discussing the history behind what you are about to see.
You provide the darkened room and popcorn and we do the rest. If you have a screen that is adequate we’ll use that, but we can provide the screen at no extra fee if necessary.
I specialize in showing films from WWII, but I can also present other films to your audience. I have comedies and dramas from the sound and silent eras. Right now we’re booking programs for the coming holiday season. See the “Happy Holidays” page for more information.
